How a LiDAR route survey works

Traditional route surveys stop traffic and measure each structure with a height pole or handheld device — one bridge at a time, one lane at a time. A MeasurePRO LiDAR route survey replaces that with continuous capture: the 2D LiDAR scanner sweeps the space above the vehicle, measuring bridges, overhead wires, traffic signals, sign gantries, and tree canopy with ±2 mm accuracy across a 0.2–250 m range, all without leaving the driver's seat.

Every measurement is stamped with dual-GPS position and paired with a synchronized camera frame, so each clearance value can be traced back to exactly what the sensor saw and where. The result is a complete vertical profile of the route — not a handful of spot checks.

The same field method applies globally across oversize/overweight and OS/OW heavy haul, abnormal loads and exceptional transport, and project cargo or out-of-gauge (OOG) corridor assessment.
